At our place, time simply moves at a gentler pace than in the city – and we are endlessly grateful for that. Here, old traditions are still very much alive, the air often carries the comforting scent of authentic home cooking, and cats, as nature intended, still quietly take care of the occasional mouse.
Our village today counts more than 100 houses and lies between the Sava Dolinka River and Bled. We are only 2 km from Lake Bled, with access via a local one-way road that allows you to avoid driving through the busy centre of Bled.
Our house is one of the oldest in the village, with some records suggesting it is 250 to 300 years old. Remarkably, it also survived the burning of several traditional homesteads during the Second World War. Despite new residents moving in over the years, the village has retained its authentic rural character, where mutual help and a strong sense of community are still very much alive.
A few decades ago, the village had many stone wash basins, where even our parents used to wash clothes and fetch water as children. Today, only a few remain, but we hope to one day bring them back to life. They stand as an important reminder of village heritage and a way of life that once was.
Lake Bled is just a 30-minute walk away, while the picturesque Šobec campsite can be reached in about 20 minutes along scenic field paths and a bridge over the Sava Dolinka River. In the other direction, the Sava Bohinjka River lies half an hour away at the foot of the majestic Jelovica plateau.
These distances are negligible by bicycle, which means you can easily leave your car with us for the entire duration of your stay.
